Heydays was founded by Charmaine and Jane in 2012. They had both worked for social services for over 20 years but realised the service that was being provided for older people was changing. They decided to go it alone and provide a service for the elderly in their local community and Heydays Day Services was created. This service ran for 10 years and supported many hundreds of people in Hucknall and the surrounding areas. The service supported older people, their families and their carers and became a lifeline to many. After the Covid-19 pandemic, life altered for everyone and Heydays wanted to maintain their high standard of support in the area. Heydays decided to become a Non Profit Community Interest Company, and so Heydays Activity Hub CIC was created and Heydays began a new chapter in providing its support service with activities being the main focus encouraging older people to join together after the Pandemic in the focus of helping to relieve the isolation in our aging population. Our 3 staff have remained the same as well as our outstanding reputation only now we have the added financial help with additional grants including NCC Notts County Council, Central Co-op and local councillors. Heydays now currently runs activity sessions Mondays Wednesdays and Friday's 10-1.30pm.
I have worked in the care profession for over 30 years in a variety of different roles. One of the main highlights was setting up Heydays in 2012. I love my work and find it very rewarding. I enjoy getting to know people and their life stories and being given the privilege to share their memories with them. I love to make a little bit of difference to someone's day just by making them laugh or smile, to listen to them or to help them achieve something new. I can not imagine working anywhere else, we are like one big family.
I have worked with older adults for over 30 years. within this time I have gained experience in residential care, end of life care, adult rehabilitation and day care. All this experience was gained throughout my time working for social services. My working life has always been about wanting to make a difference in people's lives. Heydays was founded in 2012 by myself and Charmaine and since then I have never looked back. It is said that if you enjoy your job you never have to work a day in your life and for the time that I've been at Heydays, I can say I definitely agree. I love my job and I'm proud of the work that we all do here.
I have worked at Heydays since 2019. Before this I worked as a cook for 6 years . My mum went to Heydays afternoon sessions and so I knew of the service that was provided by Heydays. When a job became available I thought it was a great opportunity to help and support others just like Heydays had helped and supported my mum. I really enjoy my job and putting a smile on the faces of all of our members during the day.
